The Ruka Armchair holds strong connection to its handcrafted origin. The piece is designed to exemplify the detailed joinery and handicraft of the furniture maker. The legs and slats are turned by hand and constructed with through wedged tenons, only noticeable on closer inspection. Teamed with the rounded shape of the frame the design creates a soft aesthetic, a generous sitting space and seductive corded upholstery.

The jewel of this piece is the hand-woven rattan base which is weaved over many hours using traditional technique. The detail in the design is subtle, playing tribute to the detailed aspects of the craft which encapsulate such beauty, though often go unnoticed.

Materials

The Ruka Armchair is made from FSC Certified furniture grade American Walnut with Chain of Custody Accreditation, and natural rattan cane webbing. Other timbers options include American Oak and Tasmanian Blackwood.

This piece is upholstered with the Designers Guild pure cotton cord fabric, 100% feather side and back cushions and a 100% feather wrap seat cushion with a natural latex foam core. Fabrics from the Romo Linara cotton/linen range or the Zepel 100% cotton velvet Lux Range are also available.

The Ruka Armchair is available to be finished using:

  • 100% Organic Tung Oil

  • OSMO naturally derived Oil & Wax

Manufacturer

The Ruka Armchair is made to order, handcrafted over 12 days by our small team of skilled makers, in our Mullumbimby workshop. Lead times vary between 6-14 weeks.

Warranty

The Ruka Armchair comes with a two-year structural warranty, & 12 months manufacturing warranty on all fabrics.
